Jewish Leadership New Mexico
If so, please join us! Jewish Leadership New Mexico is a brand new, innovative program just starting up. Its goal is to nurture a group of young activists who will provide thoughtful outreach to rural Jewish communities.
Participants must be willing to travel, fundraise and develop personal relationships with members of small, sometimes isolated, Jewish communities. Eighteen individuals will be chosen to serve. They will be charged with annually raising funds to distribute as micro-grants to rural communities.
Currently, six towns with significant Jewish populations and no regular rabbinic support have been identified: Carlsbad, Farmington, Las Vegas, Roswell, Ruidoso, and Silver City, with an estimated Jewish population of approximately 500. Where there are young leaders in these communities, these individuals are also encouraged to join the program, and act as guides for their peers.
